About
"Natasha Taylor is a singer-songwriter and visual artist from Barnsley, who is embarking on a new musical adventure. Currently recording a debut EP, her songs are simple and charming but sometimes tinged with a dark-edged grittiness. Natasha feels a strong kinship with the Scottish coastline, and the East Neuk has particularly influenced her writing and art. Taylor draws her influences from a diverse pool of musicians – from KT Tunstall and Nerina Pallot, through to Iona Marshall and Rachel Sermanni. Lyrically, TishyTash isn’t limited by the usual themes in pop music, taking inspiration from her curiosity about people and places, and her unique view of the world around her with a genuinely unique sound."
A Quick Bio
Born in Barnsley and brought up in a near by village, I have always had a kin ship with the sea though as a child the amount of stuff I collected on the beach was limited mostly because I would try filling the whole car with stuff. My early teens were spent with much time away from home camping in different places I've always liked that sense of freedom that comes from traveling.
Now aged at 22 I have been suffering with ME since I was 16 which put everything on hold for a fair few years but I have always had a passion for music. Yes that is a hamster, he is called Zaphod the IV from a line I have been breeding for about 4 years.
I am in my last throws of an art degree and intend on relocating afterwards. My work heavily based on my obsessions, I have a very obsessive personality, some would say that is an understatement! I'd list the musicians I have drawn inspiration from but my lists always end up being sketchy. I'll say KT Tunstall, Nerina Pallot, St Vincent, Iona Marshall, Withered Hand, King Creosote and so on... Drawing different elements of each.
My songs draw from experiences and observations from my life and the people in it. I see the world in an odd way something that make sense to me probably doesn't to any one else. My friends center in the songs, people not as close and my own portrayal of the world around me. I have an unusual set of influences and I hope this shows in my music. I have taught my self guitar an echoing in the back ground of some of my songs is my Great Grandad's Violin. Previous to me digging it out it hadn't been used in 60 years and is aged well over 100. I like the sense of history it brings to my songs and I wonder where it started its days.
I'm not sure what else to add here other than I like cheese and vodka but not together and only one works with orange juice. Its not the cheese.
